Addison Allies Network (AAN) is a group of volunteers whose purpose is to build a stronger more diverse and inclusive community by providing needed services to and social integration with migrant farm workers and immigrants living in Addison County, Vermont.
The goal of the organization is to create a support system for immigrants working in Addison County who are left out of the current and available systems because of their work schedules language barriers and immigration status. Addison Allies Network is the conduit for people in the larger Addison County community to support immigrants working, particularly on dairy farms in the county.
People in the larger community appreciate the sacrifices and difficulties of immigrant workers, but barriers like language, heavy work schedules, lack of transportation, keep the communities fractured. Addison Allies goal has always been to bring the communities together. By bringing the community together, we believe we will be able to realize advances for the immigrant/migrant community. We want to see better treatment for migrant/immigrant workers. Through our work, we have see much change and want to see more.
